Dr. Seliya obtained his Master's and Doctorate degrees from Florida Atlantic University. He has over 12 years of teaching experience in multiple areas of Computing Sciences, and has published over 120 peer-reviewed scholastic articles. His current research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Multimedia Data Analytics, Healthcare Data Analytics, Big Data Analytics, and Computing Sciences Education. Dr. Seliya is the Internship Coordinator of the Computer Science Department at ÌÇÐÄVlog, and is also Co-Director of the Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Security (AIMS) Research Group.


Dr. Gomes received his Ph.D. in computer science from North Dakota State University, Fargo, with a focus on optimizing sliding window-based algorithms for deriving topological variables and verification using machine learning. His research interests pertain to analyzing and implementing deep learning algorithms to process big data in biomedical informatics and computer vision. A significant portion of this research employs high-throughput computing. Dr. Gomes enjoys teaching computer science courses and fostering the spirit of student-faculty collaborative research in his research lab and campus.

Dr. Hastings is an Assistant Professor in the department of Computer Science, teaching courses including CS 140 Introduction to Computer Science and AI 350 Human-Computer Interaction. Her research is in human-computer interaction and CS education.

Xiang Ma, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the department of Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. He earned his doctoral degrees from Utah State University. He also has industrial experiences. He worked for a software company for two years after got his bachelor's degree. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, biking, and skiing.

Dr. Sam Schwartz is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. His teaching and research focus on software engineering, data science, applied machine learning/AI, and the role of computing in research contexts in private companies (e.g., capitalized software in R&D divisions), universities, and government agencies. Dr. Schwartz earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Oregon, MS in Mathematics and BS in Mathematics and Computer Science from Utah State University. He is particularly passionate about expanding educational opportunity, fostering innovation, and building trust in higher education.
